Hawaii's Smoke-Free Ordinance
The Hawaii State Legislature passed the "Healthy Air & Workplaces Law" – a smoke-free ordinance implemented to protect the health and wellbeing of people from the risks of secondhand smoke. This law prohibits smoking in places open to the public and places of employment and requires clear designation of areas where smoking is permitted.
In recognition of the growing preference for non-smoking accommodations by our guests and in accordance with this state law, the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, has been designated 100% smoke free with an exception of one designated area where smoking will be permitted on hotel property. The hotel has eliminated its inventory of smoking rooms and all guest rooms are now non-smoking. In response to the strict guidelines set by the law and the need to keep our rooms free of smoke residue, the hotels will assess a $200 reconditioning fee to a guest if a guest room and/or a lanai is found to have been compromised. This fee will cover the cost of deep-cleaning required to restore the room back to its smoke free condition.
The designated smoking area on property at the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa is the area outside of the Tower arcade entrance between Tower Wing and Outrigger Waikiki facing Kalakaua Avenue.
